Long time, no blog post! Between finals and picking up a summer internship, I have been all over the map. I am certainly not completely adjusted to being home, but I am just about there.
This summer I have been fortunate enough to take on an internship position at LOFT corporate offices in NYC. My key to taking on an internship is NETWORKING. By making good connections, you can land an internship somewhere that you truly have an interest and passion in!
My day-to-day includes commuting to NYC, Monday through Friday. I would not have it any other way. I have been to many places around the world, however, this place is where my heart lies. I know the moment I walk into Grand Central, I am ready to take on my day.
Without further or do, let’s get started!
6:00 AM – This is when I wake up. The sound of my alarm going off, is probably one of the worst parts of my day! I think to myself, can’t I just sleep in a little bit later? But I know if I do not get up, I will miss my train.
7:00 AM – 7:20 AM – This is the time I usually hop on my train. Some days I catch an earlier one, other times I catch a later one. Usually I decide what train I want to get on based if I want to take my time and walk around before I get to the office.
8:30 AM – 9:00 AM – This is when my train finally gets in. Getting off the train, without getting wacked by someones purse is actually an accomplishment. NYC is crowded, my best advice is to KEEP WALKING.
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM- I work till 12 and then usually take a break for lunch. I am not a heavy lunch eater. So usually I pack some fruit, overnight oats or I run out to get a coffee! Some awesome places are Zaro’s, Joe & The Juice, and Joe Coffee!
12:30 PM – 5:00 PM – This is when I crank out the last of my work. Schedule interviews, maybe sit in on a meeting, and double-check that I did everything I needed to get done!
5:00 PM – TIME TO GO HOME! I love my internship, but nothing is better than when it hits 5:00 PM. By this point I am exhausted and start heading back to Grand Central to catch my train home.
This is my life Monday-Friday. Commuting is tiring, but I would not trade this experience for anything else.
So happy to be back and blogging! Happy Tuesday everyone 🙂
